DRAINAGE IMPLANT

A drainage implant is a small tube or valve which is placed in the anterior chamber through a small incision. Any excess fluid is drained through the implant towards a small sac , where the liquid will be reabsorbed through the blood and lymphatic vessels. This surgery , as in the case of a trabeculectomy, is on an outpatient basis. The risks and post-operative care are similar to a trabeculectomy.
